Captain Rebecca A. Drew is currently assigned as the Deputy Assistant Commandant of Reserve. In this capacity she is responsible for the daily oversight of requirements, policy, budget, and administration of the Coast Guard Reserve.

 

Captain Drew’s previous assignment was as Chief of the office of Reserve Resources, Readiness and Analysis within the Assistant Commandant of Reserve Directorate, where she developed and implemented strategic business plans to support the national mobilization requirements of the Reserve Component, and managed the $130M Reserve Training appropriation.

 

Her other tours include assignment as the Atlantic Area Personnel Officer, External Affairs Officer, Fifth District Force Readiness Branch, Atlantic Area reserve personnel allowance and mobilization manager, Maintenance and Logistics Command Force Optimization and Training Manager, Promotion Board Coordinator Personnel Command, Reserve Personnel Management as well as the District Response Advisory Team and Regional Response Team Coordinator for the First District. While at the First District she relinquished her active duty commission and became a Reserve Program Administrator (RPA). Before becoming a RPA, she served in several prevention and planning roles when assigned to the (then) Marine Safety Office in Boston. Prior to her commissioning and active duty service, Captain Drew spent three years as a drilling Coast Guard Reserve.

 

Captain Drew gained her commission through the MARGRAD program upon graduation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. She received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Safety and Environmental Protection and graduated with a USCG 1600 ton Mate License. In 2003 she earned her Master Degree in Business Administration through the University of Massachusetts, and attended Coast-Guard funded graduate school at the University of Maryland, attaining a Master Degree in Public Administration in 2008.

 

Personal awards received include four Meritorious Service Medals, four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and two National Defense Service Medals.

 

Captain Drew is happily married with Timothy Drew, a retired reserve Naval Engineering Warrant Officer. They have two children, a 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son.
