Command Master Chief Tim Beard assumed the duties as the Coast Guard Pacific Area Reserve Command Master Chief in August 2018. In this capacity, he is the Reserve Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) and serves as the principle reserve advisor to the Pacific Area Commander and on all matters affecting the morale, work-life, and general wellbeing of Coast Guard enlisted personnel and their families assigned throughout the Pacific Area.

A native of Lawrenceburg, IN, CMC Beard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1984. While in the US Army, he was assigned to: 313 Ordnance Detachment, Ft. Sill, OK; Echo Company, 703rdSupport Battalion, 3 Infantry Division, Kitzigen, Germany; the Ordnance Missile and Munitions Center and School, Redstone Arsenal, AL; and Avenger System Repairer Course, Redstone Arsenal, AL. In December 1998, CMC Beard enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and was assigned to: Port Security Unit 313, Tacoma, WA; Group Astoria, Astoria, OR; Sector Columbia River, Warrenton, OR; Port Security Unit 312, San Francisco, CA; Joint Task Force, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and Eleventh Coast Guard District, Alameda, CA.

CMC Beard’s personal decorations include a Coast Guard Commendation Medal (fourth award), Coast Guard Achievement Medal, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (third award), Army Good Conduct Medal (third award), Coast Guard Reserve Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal, and Coast Guard Expert Rifle Medal.

CMC Beard received his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Clackamas Community College. He subsequently earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University.

CMC Beard’s civilian occupation is a patrol sergeant with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon, where he is currently serving on the Quality Assurance Unit Supervisor. He has served on the CCSO SWAT team as the sniper team leader, field training officer, field training officer for newly promoted sergeants, and he has served as supervisor for the CCSO Dive Team.
