Commander Gregory W. Peck

Chief, Force Readiness Branch (DXR) 7th District

Commander Peck reported to Coast Guard Seventh District as Chief, Force Readiness Branch in 2021.  In this position, he serves as the division chief’s direct representative for all reserve management functions and executes Reserve policy for USCG HQ (CG-R) and Reserve doctrine from Atlantic Area. He advises the District Commander on Reserve training, policy, doctrine, mobilization, and personnel issues and directs Reserve program execution across the Seventh District, ensuring uniformity, consistency of policy and guidance. He manages Seventh District $4M reserve appropriation for training.

Prior to this assignment, Commander Peck served as the Port Security Unit Force Manager at USCG Pacific Area Operations Division. Previous assignments include Assistant Chief Personnel Division at Director of Operational Logistics (DOL-1), Chief, Personnel Programs at Atlantic Area (LANT-11), Chief of Reserve Force Readiness at Sector Baltimore, Reserve Management Duty at USCG Office of Reserve Affairs (CG-131), and Assistant Training Officer and plank owner at USCG Special Missions Training Center, formerly Port Security Unit Training Detachment.
Commander Peck enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1988 as a field radio operator and scout observer, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines during Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. In 2001, Commander Peck transitioned to the USCG as a Port Security Specialist assigned to Port Security Unit 305, which deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba following the attacks of 9/11. Upon return from Cuba, he attended Reserve Officer Candidate Indoctrination and received his Reserve commission in 2002.
Commander Peck is a native of Chesterfield, Virginia. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in Homeland Security from American Military University in 2005 and awarded a Masters of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University in 2008.
Commander Peck’s personal awards include six Coast Guard Commendation Medals with operational distinguishing device, Navy/Marine Corp Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation and Navy/Marine Corp Combat Action Ribbon. Commander Peck is married to the former Macy Jason of Jacksonville, FL.
