CG Reserve Workforce: Operations
The Operations element is responsible for the execution of the Coast Guard Reserve missions to provide the Coast Guard with boat operations, contingency planning and response, expeditionary warfare, marine safety, port security, law enforcement and mission support.
The Operations component is comprised of:
Pacific Area Command also manages all Port Security Units (PSUs) while each Area Command administrates Reserve personnel in the Coast Guard National Strike Force (NSF) and in distinct Department of Defense (DoD) resources such as at the Combatant Commands and the Navy Coastal Riverine Forces (NCRF).
Coast Guard's two Area Commands are each divided into District Commands that manage and fulfill the Coast Guard's missions within their own geographical area of responsibility.
Coast Guard Area Commands are comprised of:
1st, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 14th, and 17th districts.
Atlantic Area (LANTAREA) Command is comprised of:
districts 1, 5, 7, 8, and 11
Pacific Area (PACAREA) Command is comprised of: districts 11, 13, 14, and 17
District Commands ensure the safety and security of all maritime areas and transportation systems within their area of responsibility, focusing on risk reduction and prevention, but prepared to respond with courage and speed to any maritime incident.
District Command Reserve Force Readiness System (RFRS) staff act as the principle Reserve force advisor and subject matter expert for the District Commander. District RFRS staff focus on the administration of the Reserve program and primary responsibilities are in direct support of the reserve component.
Coast Guard District Commands are divided into Sector Commands that manage and fulfill the Coast Guard's missions within their own geographical area of responsibility.

District 1 : Sector Boston, Sector Long Island Sound, Sector New York, Sector Northern New England, & Sector Southeast New England, Sector Field Office Air Station Atlantic City, NJ, Sector Field Office Cape Hatteras, NC, Sector Field Easter Shore
District 5 : Sector Maryland-National Capital Region, Sector Delaware Bay, Sector Hampton Roads, & Sector North Carolina
District 7 : Sector Charleston, Sector Jacksonville, Sector Key West, Sector Miami, Sector San Juan, & Sector St. Petersburg
District 8 : Sector Lower Mississippi, Sector Upper Mississippi, Sector Mobile, Sector New Orleans, & Sector Ohio Valley,

Sector Command Reserve Force Readiness System (RFRS) staff assist the Sector commander to achieve the necessary training, qualification and contingency readiness of their Reserve personnel and guides individual training to fulfill contingency roles. Sector RFRS personnel focus primarily on managing the Reserve program.
