Captain Sara S. Platt Moser

Thirteen District Reserve Chief of Staff

U.S. Coast Guard Reserve

Captain Sara S. Platt Moser serves as the Reserve Chief of Staff for the Thirteenth Coast Guard District, where she is the principal advisor to the District Commander on all matters related to Reserve force readiness for the over 260 Reserve positions throughout the Pacific Northwest, which encompasses the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana and includes more than 4,400 miles of coastline, 600 miles of inland waterways, and a 126 nautical mile international boarder with Canada.

Captain Moser’s previous reserve assignments include Senior Reserve Officer, Sector Puget Sound; Senior Reserve Officer, PACAREA Reserve Incident Management and Assistance Team; DSCA Course Director and J7 Exercise Planner, U.S. Northern Command; and the Coast Guard Deployable Operations Group DG-35 Future Operations Branch. Her previous active duty assignments include Assistant House Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives, Washington DC; Assistant Operations Officer, Coast Guard Group St. Petersburg, FL; and Deck Watch Officer, USCGC RELIANCE, Portsmouth, NH.

Captain Moser has also been mobilized in support of OPERATIONS ALLIES WELCOME, serving as the DHS Chief of Staff at Safe Haven site Ft. Pickett, VA; Incident Commander for a Type 1 Mass Vaccination Site in Detroit, MI, and in support of hurricanes HARVEY, IRMA and MARIA.

Captain Moser is a 1999 graduate of the Coast Guard Officer’s Candidate School, and graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN with a B.A. in Political Science and Communications. In 2011, she obtained a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Denver. Her personal decorations include the Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Coast Guard Commendation Medal (3), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (1), and the Coast Guard Achievement along with various other team, unit, campaign, and service awards.

Captain Moser and her husband LtCol (ret.) Martin Moser, own and operate Moser Aviation, LLC, a business aviation management and charter company out of Centennial Colorado. They live in Castle Rock, Colorado, with their children Anna, Jimmy and Genevieve.
