Command Master Chief Hallie Portz

Eleventh District Reserve Command Master Chief

U.S. Coast Guard

Master Chief Hallie Portz assumed duties as Reserve Command Master Chief for District 11 on July 29, 2022. Her primary responsibilities are to advise the District Commander on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard Reserve members and families who fall within the District 11 Area of Responsibility and assist active duty as needed.

Prior to reporting to District 11, Master Chief Portz served as the Command Master Chief for Port Security Unit 311 (PSU 311) from 2019-2022. She has also served as Reserve Command Senior Chief of Sector Puget Sound in Washington State. This tour included a deployment to the Southwest Border to support Coast Guard members engaged in humanitarian relief measures, spanning over 1400 miles from southern Texas to western Arizona. Master Chief Portz has also been assigned as Communications Chief for Port Security Unit 313, Communications Leader at Group/Air Station Humboldt Bay, California, and aboard Coast Guard Cutter POLAR SEA.

Master Chief Portz is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Academy class 204 and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course class 64. She holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Utah.

Master Chief Portz’s personal awards include two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals with Operational Distinguishing Device, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Coast Guard Commandant’s Letter of Commendation.  She is qualified in Port Security.
