COMMAND MASTER CHIEF MIKE DEMOPOULOS

Thirteenth District Command Master Chief

Master Chief Petty Officer Mike Demopoulos assumed the duties of Reserve Command Master Chief of the Thirteenth Coast Guard District in June 2022. He serves as the direct representative and primary advisor on all matters and initiatives pertaining to the reserve workforce throughout the district, encompassing Washington, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho.  

His previous assignments include Station Bellingham, WA, Port Security Unit 313 in Everett, WA, Station Seattle, WA, and a second tour at Station Bellingham, WA, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Reserve Advisor.

He has served in several CONUS and OCONUS operations. During Operation Podium, he participated in the enhanced northern border security operations supporting the winter Olympic games in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He was deployed to the CENTCOM area of operations as a tactical coxswain when PSU 313 was assigned to Combined Task Group 56.5, Kuwait Naval Base, Kuwait. He coordinated waterside security operations during Foal Eagles’ Combined Joint Logistics Over the Shore Exercise in Pohang, South Korea.

His personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, three Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbons. He has earned the permanent Coxswain, Advanced Boat Forces Operations, and the Port Security Unit Insignias. He is a proud graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy Reserve class 37 and the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course class 84.

Master Chief Demopoulos resides in Anacortes, Washington, and works as a Captain for the Washington State Ferry system and has earned Unlimited Tonnage Master, First-Class Pilot license, and various other merchant marine endorsements. He commands auto/passenger ferries through the beautiful San Juan Islands in Washington State. He and his wife Yesenia have two children, Jacob and Daniel.
